Our school community has been working closely with the Rideau Hall Foundation and the Nipissing University Faculty of Education to implement Education for Innovation Resources. These resources are inspired by the book Ingenious authored by the Rt. Hon. David Johnston and Tom Jenkins from Open Text. John Sweeney is cultivating a culture of innovation with our community partners. Innovation is beginning to take hold in all aspects of the school including the many wonderful social innovations led by our Youth In Action student group. The action and ideas of students, parents and staff are truly making an impact on student learning. We are providing students with innovative opportunities that foster learning and support their passions and interests. Through the Education for Innovation resources, we have seen first hand how one idea for an innovation project can improve students’ confidence and skills, and also inspire them to take their learning beyond the classroom walls.
