2018 John Sweeney Dance-a-thon
John Sweeney Council would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all our students, staff, parents and volunteers; together we exceeded this year’s Dance-a-thon fundraising goal and raised almost $11,000! This money will be used to purchase additional Chromebooks as well as other technology for all of our student population to utilize.
Also, because the students exceeded the original goal of $10,000, all in good fun, our principal Mr. Smith has agreed to be taped to the gymnasium wall on Thursday, June 28th, 12:40pm at the final Spirit Assembly. The actual taping won’t start until about 1:40 as there are other presentations prior to this. Please feel free to join us!
Thank you also to DJ Sound Struck who did an amazing job keeping the kids dancing and having a great time all day! And congratulations to all of the raffle prize winners and the top earning classes who have won either a pizza or ice-cream party!
Way to go Cardinals!
John Sweeney has produced a second innovation video in collaboration with the Nipissing Faculty of Education and the Rideau Hall Foundation. The school is part of a pilot project field testing innovation curriculum units. We want to congratulate our staff, students and parents who are supporting a culture of innovation at John Sweeney. Innovation is truly the key to future success for our students. Please see the link below to review the video.
John Sweeney’s Dance-a-thon Fundraiser!
Just a reminder that we are collecting pledges for our upcoming John Sweeney School Dance-a-thon Fundraiser until this Tuesday, June 5th. Please make your donations online at:
For every $5 a student raises in pledges, she/he will receive a raffle ticket for an opportunity to win at our raffle tables that include over 55, amazing prizes such as Rangers tickets, a wireless speaker, Blue Jay hats, multiple gift cards valuing $25 – $60, a drone and great family board games just to name a few! Top earning classes in each division will also win a pizza or ice-cream party! We also enticed the students at the Dance-a-thon kick-off assembly with the opportunity to tape our Principal, Mr. Smith, to the gymnasium wall at the year-end assembly if we are able to reach our goal of $10,000!
We encourage students to ask family (no door-to-door requests please) to support our school initiatives which include purchasing new Chromebooks and other technology.
Thank you Cardinals and see you on the dance floor!
