Safety concern-Dropping Off and Picking Up Students

Dear Families,

As you are aware John Sweeney is a large school with almost 800 students under the care of staff. The beginning and the end of the day is very congested and we are doing all we can to calm traffic on school property during this time.  We ask that parents or caregivers dropping off or picking up students near the portable areas to not congregate in the asphalt area, in the parking lot, or near the driveway where vehicles will be coming in and out.  The sidewalk area near the fire hydrant is the safest place to release your child to school property or to have them meet you at dismissal. Please encourage age appropriate children to walk to and from school with friends and siblings. We appreciate your support in ensuring the safety of all students.

School Handbook and Hold The Date (Sept. 11, 5-7, Meet the Staff Night)

Dear Families,

Below is the School Handbook to assist you in better understanding school policies and also includes a list of important dates for the school year. We ask parents to pay particular attention to the cell phone policy, before and after school and the school code of conduct. A gentle reminder parents and visitors to the school are not allowed on the black top before or after school. This is to ensure the safety of all students at the school. The first day of school year was very successful and it was great to see all the smiling faces throughout the day. We look forward to working in collaboration with you to make this a positive year for all students.

Village Catering and Mega Cone are the food vendors on September 11 Meet The Staff Night (5-7). This time is a correction from the information that went home in hard copy. More details will follow regarding when classrooms will be open and  the times food will be available.  The information will also include some costs for the night to help you plan. Please hold this date on your calendar.
